Success at Major Health Network with OTech Kiosks & NextGen PMS

American Health Network is a multi‐specialty medical practice with 84 different offices across Ohio and Indiana. Their first unit went live in August 2010 and to date, 18 OTech units have been or are in the process of being rolled out.  Already, they have over 9,000 check‐ins per month and the check‐in rate of a patient using the kiosk versus a receptionist is above 50%.

After months of tedious negotiations on price and deliverables with a competitor of OTech’s, AHN decided to pull the plug and begin looking for another vendor. After the first phone call with OTech and discussions on cost and implementation with NextGen, an agreement was reached in just a few weeks.

The implementation was “amazingly easy” according to Monts. “We deal with large software companies and we have enhancement requests that take months if not years to get enacted. With OTech, it’s the next day. Just yesterday, and I can give you 50 of these examples, AHN had an issue that I emailed to OTech. This morning, I already had an answer. It’s top notch” adds Monts.

Along with their integration to NextGen, AHN has adopted many unique features to customize their system. One such element is the use of automatically storing and filing digital patient signatures for their HIPAA/financial agreements.  OTech has also worked closely with AHN to create a process for enrolling patients in “NextMD” ‐ an online portal for patients to view their medical information from home. The OTech kiosk, using its receipt printer, generates a username and password for the patient to take home. It’s a convenient and cost effective method to promote the NextMD system.
